Four people were killed, and two others sustained serious injuries after a massive fire broke out at a shoe manufacturing factory in Delhi's Mangolpuri Industrial Area late Friday night, officials said on Saturday.

The fire erupted at around 9:30 p.m. in a factory located in Phase 1 of the Mangolpuri Industrial Area. After the incident, Delhi Police personnel, fire brigade teams, and rescue officials rushed to the site and launched an emergency operation.

Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control. During the rescue operation, six people were pulled out of the factory in an unconscious condition and rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Phase-I Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District) Vikram Singh confirmed that four of the six rescued individuals were declared dead on arrival, while the remaining two are undergoing treatment.

“Police received information regarding a fire outbreak at a shoe factory. Our beat staff and team immediately reached the spot as first responders. As soon as the fire tenders arrived, the rescue operation was initiated,” Singh said.

He added that the rescue operation continued for a considerable period and that legal proceedings had been initiated.

### Fire Originated in Factory Basement

According to the DCP, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Preliminary information indicates the blaze originated in the factory basement.

“The reason behind the fire is still unclear, and we are investigating what might have led to the fire. So far, we only know that the fire broke out in the basement. The reason will only be clear after an investigation,” Singh said.
