Telecom equipment maker Ericsson has produced more than 15,000 antennas and 25 million components through its manufacturing ecosystem in India since July 2025, and now exports locally manufactured products.
The company said the milestone highlights India's expanding role in its global engineering, manufacturing and supply chain network as it continues to build capabilities across sourcing, engineering, production and exports.
The achievement comes slightly more than a year after Ericsson began manufacturing its first export-ready antennas in India, marking a significant step in its efforts to strengthen domestic production and develop the country as an export base.
“Producing more than 15,000 antennas in India is an important milestone and is a step in a much longer journey. We are building an end-to-end antenna ecosystem that combines local sourcing and manufacturing with Ericsson's global engineering capabilities,” said Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System.
He said the growing demand for intelligent and programmable networks is increasing the importance of advanced antenna technologies, particularly in improving network performance and making more efficient use of spectrum.
According to Ericsson, antennas manufactured in India are being supplied to telecom customers domestically as well as in overseas markets. The company said the initiative is also helping develop a wider local ecosystem involving component suppliers, engineering capabilities and manufacturing partners.
Ericsson said its antenna systems are designed to help telecom operators improve network coverage and capacity, use spectrum more efficiently and lower energy consumption as the industry moves towards 5G Standalone, AI-driven network operations and next-generation architectures.
The company said Ericsson and its local partners are continuing to build capabilities required for high-performance, energy-efficient and AI-ready telecommunications networks.
Ericsson added that it plans to further expand its antenna ecosystem in India by strengthening local engineering, manufacturing and export capabilities while supporting telecom operators in developing next-generation networks.
