The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for eight districts in Uttarakhand, forecasting light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds over the next five days.

The alert covers Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.

According to the weather department, these districts could experience rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.

Most parts of Uttarakhand were partly cloudy on Tuesday, with light drizzle reported at several locations. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall at some places across all districts during the next five days.

The weather department has also warned of the possibility of snowfall in areas located at elevations of 4,200 metres and above.

The latest change in weather comes shortly after the southwest monsoon withdrew from the state last Saturday. The IMD said the activation of a western disturbance could contribute to further changes in weather conditions.

Meanwhile, a shift in weather conditions has also been reported over Delhi and the National Capital Region, where rain and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rainfall and accompanying winds could provide some relief from the prevailing pollution in parts of the national capital. Delhi's maximum temperature is expected to remain around 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle at around 22 degrees Celsius. Humidity is forecast to remain between 45 and 55 per cent.

The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies in Delhi on October 7, with temperatures expected to range between 34 and 22 degrees Celsius.

Partly cloudy conditions are also likely on October 8, with temperatures again expected to remain between 34 and 22 degrees Celsius. A modest decline in the maximum temperature is forecast for October 9, when it could reach 32 degrees Celsius.

Partly cloudy skies are expected to continue on October 10 and 11, with maximum temperatures likely to remain between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.

The change in weather and stronger winds have contributed to some improvement in air quality across parts of Delhi-NCR. However, pollution remains a concern, with several areas continuing to record air quality in the poor to very poor categories.
