Delhi Police have arrested two men in connection with two alleged house burglaries in North Delhi’s Wazirabad area, recovering stolen gold and silver jewellery, ₹42,670 in cash, house-breaking tools and other items.
The accused have been identified as Sameer alias Sadam, 23, and Mujammil alias Monu, 26. According to the police, the arrests followed an investigation involving analysis of hundreds of CCTV cameras, route tracking, local intelligence and technical surveillance. A stolen scooter allegedly used by the accused to conduct reconnaissance and carry out the burglaries was also recovered.
The investigation began after a complaint by Wazirabad resident Sanjiv Bhaumik led to the registration of a case on October 10 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complainant reported that unidentified individuals had stolen gold and silver jewellery and cash from his house.
Police formed a dedicated team led by Sub-Inspector Naveen Sindhu, in-charge of the Sangam Vihar Police Post, under the supervision of Inspector Prashant Anand, Station House Officer of Wazirabad police station, and the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police Shashikant Gaur of Burari.
During the investigation, officers examined CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. The footage allegedly showed two suspects arriving on a white scooter. Police subsequently analysed recordings from cameras along suspected escape routes and activated their local intelligence network to trace the individuals.
The investigation led officers to a house in Bhajanpura, where one of the suspects was identified as Sameer, a resident of Gali No. 16 in the locality. Police said the suspects had left Delhi for Shivpuri in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, on the morning of October 14.
Acting on technical inputs, the police tracked down and apprehended Sameer in Shivpuri, Rishikesh, on October 15. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed his involvement in the theft along with his associate, Mujammil, who lives in Sethi Enterprise Wali Gali in Bhajanpura. Mujammil was subsequently arrested from the same locality on October 15.
Police said gold and silver jewellery and ₹42,670 in cash were recovered from the accused’s respective residences.
During further questioning, the two men allegedly disclosed their involvement in another jewellery theft at a house in Hardev Nagar a few days earlier. In connection with that incident, Wazirabad police station registered e-FIR No. 80080272/2026 on September 21 under Section 305 of the BNS.
The arrests have helped police solve two cases registered at Wazirabad police station: e-FIR No. 80086467/2026, dated October 10, and e-FIR No. 80080272/2026, dated September 21, both under Section 305 of the BNS, officials said.
