Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha has been suspended after participating in a protest by police personnel outside the Police Headquarters over the transfer of two officers.
The protest saw several police personnel gather outside the headquarters and demand the withdrawal of transfer orders issued against the two officers.
A police source confirmed that disciplinary action had been taken against Vashistha in connection with his participation in the demonstration. However, further details regarding the reasons and circumstances surrounding the suspension were not immediately available. The Delhi Police had not issued an official statement on the matter at the time of reporting.
Rohini Bar Association Withdraws Work Abstention
Following reports of Vashistha’s suspension, the Rohini Court Bar Association announced that it was withdrawing its protest and cancelling its proposed abstention from judicial work.
The Association had earlier called on its members to abstain from work on November 3, 2026, over developments related to the police protest.
In a statement, the Association confirmed that the ACP had been suspended by the competent authorities and said its Executive Committee had decided to call off the protest with immediate effect.
It also urged members to resume their regular duties and ensure that court proceedings continued without disruption.
The Association expressed appreciation for the unity and cooperation shown by its members, reiterating its commitment to protecting the dignity, self-respect and welfare of the legal fraternity. It added that it would continue to seek accountability and appropriate action whenever the interests of its members were compromised.
Dispute Originated From Alleged Assault on Advocate
The dispute between lawyers and the Delhi Police dates back to an incident on October 23 at Shahdara Police Station, where advocate Lalit Bansal reportedly sustained serious head injuries in an alleged assault.
Members of the legal fraternity claimed that when they approached the police station to question how the matter was being handled, ACP Manasvi Vashistha displayed a revolver and attempted to intimidate them.
The Coordination Committee of All Delhi Bar Associations subsequently protested against the ACP’s alleged conduct and announced work abstentions.
Following the protests, Vashistha and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahdara Police Station were transferred. The latest suspension has now prompted the Rohini Court Bar Association to withdraw its planned protest and return to normal judicial work.
