Several Chief Ministers on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, highlighting his political journey from Gujarat and the policies and initiatives undertaken.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a post on X, congratulated Modi and said his journey began on October 7, 2001, when he became Gujarat Chief Minister, and has continued with what he described as a commitment to building a developed and self-reliant India.

Dhami said Modi's tenure focused on welfare programmes, women's empowerment, youth development, infrastructure, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

He also said the Prime Minister had emphasised ensuring that development benefits reached people at the grassroots level. Dhami added that Uttarakhand was working towards becoming one of the leading states in the country.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also congratulated Modi on completing 25 years in public service.

Gupta said Modi's political journey from Gujarat had been marked by what she described as a commitment to the country and highlighted changes involving villages, farmers, young people, women and economically weaker sections.

She said Modi had placed public service, duty and national interest at the centre of his political career and credited his leadership with strengthening what she described as India's self-confidence and cultural consciousness.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also marked the occasion, describing Modi's 25-year public service journey as a significant milestone.

Yadav said the journey, which began with Modi becoming Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001, had focused on the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas'.

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister highlighted the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the abrogation of Article 370 and measures targeting Naxalism. He also referred to schemes including Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma extended his greetings to Modi and described his 25 years in public service as an example of governance and administrative reforms.

Sharma referred to initiatives undertaken during Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, including efforts related to water supply, girls' education, industry and agriculture, and said some of these approaches were subsequently adopted at the national level.

He also highlighted developments in areas such as roads, railways, digital infrastructure, defence production, space technology and semiconductor manufacturing during Modi's tenure as Prime Minister.

Modi's tenure as head of government began on October 7, 2001, when he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister. He remained in the post until 2014 before moving to national politics and becoming Prime Minister.

He has since served three consecutive terms as Prime Minister. His tenure at the national level has also been accompanied by greater international engagement by India, including stronger ties with major powers and a prominent role in the Global South.
