A low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 26, with the system expected to move towards North Andhra Pradesh,

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) said on Friday that the system is expected to develop into a depression by October 24 and strengthen further into a deep depression on October 25.

Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of APSDMA, said the system could intensify into a cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by October 26 morning. It is then expected to move west-northwestwards towards the coast of North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha.

The developing weather system is likely to bring widespread rainfall across Andhra Pradesh from October 26, with heavy rain forecast in isolated locations. Strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60–70 kmph are also expected along the state's coast.

Authorities have urged residents and farmers to take necessary precautions in view of the forecast. Fishermen currently at sea have been advised to return to shore immediately.

**Rain Forecast for Rayalaseema**

Separately, the influence of a low-pressure system affecting the Tamil Nadu and Kerala regions is expected to bring scattered heavy rainfall to parts of Rayalaseema on Friday.

Light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightning in some areas, is forecast for October 24 and 25. Rainfall is expected to become more widespread across Andhra Pradesh from October 26 as the Bay of Bengal system strengthens.

According to the IMD, the low-pressure area developed under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on Thursday.

The weather agency expects the system to remain over the same region initially before intensifying into a depression on Saturday, a deep depression on October 25 and a cyclonic storm by the following morning.

The system is then forecast to continue moving west-northwestwards towards the North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coasts over the subsequent two days.

Authorities are monitoring the system's development and have advised the public, particularly coastal residents and the farming community, to follow official weather updates and safety instructions.
