Bangladesh's outgoing High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, held a farewell meeting with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in New Delhi, with the two officials reviewing the broad range of India-Bangladesh relations.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the importance of people-to-people connections between the two countries and expressed confidence that continued joint efforts could lead to meaningful cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Bangladesh High Commission said the meeting took place as Hamidullah completed his tenure in New Delhi. Both sides reflected on bilateral relations and cooperation under the established institutional framework between the two countries.
Hamidullah assumed charge as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India in April 2025. Before taking up the assignment in New Delhi, he served as Secretary, West, in Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On October 4, Hamidullah said he had sought to strengthen and advance India-Bangladesh relations during his tenure, with an emphasis on mutual trust, dignity and shared interests.
His remarks came after a meeting with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who acknowledged his contribution to bilateral ties and conveyed his best wishes for his future assignments.
India has consistently stated that it wants a positive, constructive and forward-looking relationship with Bangladesh and remains willing to address bilateral issues through established institutional and diplomatic channels.
