Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has congratulated the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government led by Hagrama Mohilary on completing a year in office.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has congratulated the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government led by Hagrama Mohilary on completing a year in office, saying coordination between the NDA governments at the Centre, in Assam and in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is accelerating development in the area.
In a post on X, Sarma said the three levels of government were working together to promote development and improve the delivery of welfare schemes across the BTR.
He said the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was committed to implementing the provisions of the Bodo Peace Accord and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Sarma highlighted the implementation of several Assam government welfare programmes in the BTR, including Orunodoi, the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and free ration.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the state government's approval of a Rs 1,000 crore special package for upgrading road infrastructure in the BTR.
He said the government was also working to develop the region as a manufacturing and logistics hub, with the aim of attracting investment and creating employment and economic opportunities.
The BTR comprises four districts: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Tamulpur. The region has remained a key focus of government efforts to consolidate peace and promote development following the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord.
Sarma has repeatedly stressed that implementation of the accord, along with infrastructure expansion and effective delivery of welfare schemes, would be important to improving the socio-economic conditions of the region.
His latest remarks also highlighted the political coordination between the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Assam and the BTC administration, with the government presenting peace and development as key priorities for the BTR.
