Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Bhopal on Saturday for a series of programmes focused on dairy development, animal husbandry, agriculture, infrastructure and the implementation of new criminal laws.
The main event of the visit will be the state-level Gopalak Sammelan, which is expected to bring together more than 35,000 cattle rearers and members of dairy cooperative societies from across Madhya Pradesh.
During the conference, Shah is expected to distribute bonus payments to cattle rearers associated with the Bhopal and Indore milk unions and provide financial assistance for cow shelters.
Women involved in cattle rearing, known as 'Gopalak Didis', will also be felicitated during the programme. Sanction letters under the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana are scheduled to be handed over to beneficiaries.
As part of the visit, Shah is expected to virtually perform the Bhoomi Pujan for a modern dairy plant in Ujjain, estimated to cost Rs 255 crore. Several other dairy-related projects are also on the agenda, including milk plants, processing facilities and laboratories for testing milk quality.
A fermented milk products plant in Bhopal is among the projects planned for inauguration or foundation-laying. The foundation stone for the Bhopal Western Bypass is also scheduled to be laid during the programme.
Shah will receive briefings on initiatives being undertaken as part of the state's Krishak Kalyan Varsh, or Farmers' Welfare Year, as well as the Balram Krishi Mahotsav. Presentations are also expected from officials of the Home, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Cooperation, Public Works and Transport departments.
At BHEL Dussehra Ground, Shah is scheduled to inaugurate a state-level exhibition showcasing the country's new criminal laws.
The Union Home Minister will also hold a meeting with the Madhya Pradesh government to review matters pending between the state and the Union Home Ministry.
The visit has also drawn political criticism from the Opposition Congress. State Congress president Jitu Patwari has raised questions about the condition of Madhya Pradesh's dairy cooperative network and is seeking responses from the Union Home Minister.
Shah's Bhopal visit is expected to bring together multiple government programmes covering dairy and livestock development, farmer welfare, cooperative institutions, infrastructure and the rollout of the new criminal laws, alongside discussions on outstanding issues between the Centre and the state government.
